Nearly discarded at birth and weighing 1.58oz (28.3g) when she was born, Meysi the Terrier was nearly tossed in the trash. Owner Anna Pohl of Jarocin, Poland noticed a piece of placenta moving around and realized that this was the smallest of the litter. Measuring at 2.75in (7cm) tall, 4.7in (12cm) long and weighs 8.8oz. (205g) this female pup, born just three months ago is competing for the title of the World's Smallest Dog in the Guinness Book of Records.

Little Meysi is so small that she has been fed by hand and not with her siblings. Just like an infant, Pohl told Gazeta Jarocinska, according to a translation via ABC.com “[I got] zero sleep. I was feeding her day and night, every half hour. Sometimes I ran out of strength, had to call out of work.”“The worst was the first six weeks.” Guinness World Records told Meysi's owner the“prospective candidates for smallest dog in the world must be at least 12 months old," which leaves Meysi with a grace period before she can go after the title of World's Smallest Dog.
