By definition, evolution is the change in the inherited characteristics of biological populations over successive generations, according to Wikipedia. As humans, adaptation is a means of survival. In the Pet World, this holds even truer for DOGS. Get ready to enter the world of DOGS in this exploration of extraordinary dog pictures that depicts the deepest emotional depths when they are left alone in cars.

Could you recall early in your childhood when you were left alone in a car, perhaps for 5, 10 or even 15 minutes? That time could feel like an eternity, at a young age, when the possibility of no one returning could keep you in a panic. That's how London photographer Martin Usborne felt at an early age as this became the fundamental basis of his new photography book The Silence of Dogs in Cars

Usborne's book features a rich offering of images of dogs depicted in isolation. It is this isolation that explores “that feeling, both in relation to myself and to animals in general. says Usborne in a prepared statement that  “the dog in the car is a metaphor, not just for the way that animals (both domestic and wild) are so often silenced and controlled by humans but for the way that we so often silence and control the darker parts of ourselves: the fear and loneliness that we would rather keep locked away.”

It is the “fractured relationship” between that of humans and animals that Usborne shows in these soft-spoken images of dogs in various automobiles. Most of the images were taken at dusk or dawn which adds to the high degree of drama as with the location and dogs which were carefully selected to evoke the “right mood.” The drive behind this project comes from “a desire to understand I suppose. I want to understand myself and to understand my relationship to all animals,” says Usborne “I see the separation of animals from humans as an echo from my own separation that I felt from a young age.”
